Impact mounting front body panels of vehicle - has spaced mounting tags and protected bonnet hinge

The front side panels are linked to the chassis mountings by a series of edge tags (12) with point fixings (10) while the bonnet is linked to its reinforcing frame by similar spaced tags. The collision forces from the front and from above are effectively absorbed without causing serious injury to pedestrians and to absorb vehicle impact forces. The spacing of the tags is closer near the passenger compartments to give a progressive impact resistance. The bonnet hinge is protected by a V-shaped bracket (13) mounted around one of the tags.
