PURPOSE:To prevent the generation and propagation of vibrations, shocks and the like by a method wherein the frictional force between leaves in a laminate leaf spring mechanism is controlled in accordance with the conditions of a body to be supported. CONSTITUTION:In the case where the body (a) to be supported is, for example, a machine which moves a hammer up and down, a controlling part 20 feeds a control from a hammer position detecting part fitted to the body (a). For example, a cylinder device 17 is extended at the moment the hammer strikes a die or the like, whereby an upper end part of a clamping member 12 is rotated outwards and a pressure applied to the leaf springs 2 between an arm part 13 and a base 7 is reduced so that the clamping force becomes zero. As a result, the leaf spring mechanism 1 is moderately bent to absorb the shock. Then, when the hammer is moved downwards together with the die or the like which it has struck, he cylinder device 17 is drive controlled so as to gradually increase the clamping force.
