PURPOSE:To smoothly move a head by discriminating the time intervals of head shift pulses applied from a floppy disk controller by two types of time intervals and controlling the drive clock of a step motor based on the deciding result of said time intervals. CONSTITUTION:A floppy disk controller 1 applies the head shift pulses to a floppy disk device to move a head to a desired track. These shift pulses are different from each other by the type of the controller 1. A step rate discriminating means 2 obtains the time intervals of the shift pulses applied from the controller 1, i.e., the time intervals of step pulses. Based on these time intervals, a high-speed or low-speed time interval is discriminated. Then a head shift means 3 changes the drive clock of a step motor in response to the discriminated time intervals and based on the decided high-speed or low-speed time interval. In such a way, the head is moved smoothly. |
