PURPOSE:To obtain a picture reduction system of a low cost, by dividing a reference picture element group into small groups, deriving a partial total value of a density value by separate circuits, adding the partial total value by other circuit, and deriving a final total value. CONSTITUTION:A reference picture element is divided into 2 small groups, a partial total value is derived by ROMs 51, 52 and density data of 8 bits is inputted to the ROMs 51, 52. Subsequently, a coefficient of weight showing an overlapping state of an attention picture element and the reference picture element group is decided by a status signal from a status signal generating circuit 53. The partial total values of the ROMs are inputted directly to an adder 55, an outputted total value Z is compared with a threshold level theta by a comparator 56, and is outputted as a density value 0 (k, l) of the attention picture element. In this way, ROM size for deriving a total value of a density value is reduced remarkably. |
