PURPOSE:To perform retrieval for a specified column or row efficiently by a method wherein in a memory array which has a plurality of memory cells having an arbitrary number of bits arranged along a column or row direction, through a mark or the like provided at each plural number of columns or rows of the cells, visual judgement can be enabled. CONSTITUTION:On memory cells 1a and 1b which are arranged by 1 bit or 2 bit arranged at linearly symetrical position along a shaft of a column or row direction or 4 bit arranged at linearly symetrical position along a shaft of a column or row direction, an irregularity in form which is visually discernible is formed. Next by a plurality of these cells 1a and 1b arranged along the column direction a memory array 2 is built, and a column region of array 3a among column regions of array 3a and 3b which consist of one or several number of columns is used as an index for discernment, and the indexes are provided at each specified number of columns. In this arrangement, an index is provided in such a way that the shape of the cell is changed or a slit is notched or a mark is provided. By this method using the column region 3a as an index, the retrieval of a specified column region 3a or 3b is performed. |
