The lorry can be driven over all types of ground, and has a pivot mounting for a mast, which can be swivelled from a horizontal position for transport to a vertical working position by two jacks. The mast is pref. a lattice mast (12), and carries a hydraulic cylinder employed to drive a rotating drill head (32) up or down the mast. The drill head receives a train of drill rods ending in either a rotary drilling tool or a hammer; and a drilling fluid is fed through the rods. The drill head is pref. connected by chains to the piston rod of the hydraulic cylinder (36) moving the head along the mast.
