<p>The multi-purpose machine-tool can serVe as a drilling or milling machine, as a lathe, as a horizontal reaming machine, or as a vertical reaming machine. It uses rails (3,4,13) on a bed to locate a longitudinal work slide (8) together with a longitudinally displaceable support (17) for a pivotable machining head (32). A circular column (18) locates the head on the support, and the angular relationship between the head and the support is adjustable. The support may comprise a split sleeve and may house the foot of the column, the head being mounted on a slidable sleeve (21) which locks at a required position on the column. A crown wheel and casing may permit head rotation relative to a horizontal axis and the slidable sleeve, the latter being driven by hand-wheel (24) and screw (22) whilst accepting alternative heads.</p> |
