A method and device are disclosed for welding to together a female tube section 8 and a male tube section 5. The male and female sections are held by means of respective retaining devices 3, 4 and heating elements 6, 12 heat the surfaces 7 and 11 of the sections to a welding temperature before insertion of the male section into the female section. The retaining device 4 holds a retaining mandrel 9 inserted into the female section 8 and of the same external diameter as the male section 5 such that the retaining device 4 can be substantially the same as the device 3. <IMAGE> |
