PURPOSE:To prepare a 2-acyloxy-3-piperidinopropoxyindene derivative useful as an antispasmodic agent, by reacting 3-piperidino-2-hydroxypropoxyindene with an isocyanate. CONSTITUTION:The 2-acyloxy-3-piperidinopropoxyindene derivative of formula II is prepared by reacting 3-piperidino-2-hydroxypropoxyindene with usually equimolar or slightly excess amount of the isocyanate of formula R-N=C=O (R is lower alkyl or phenyl) in an inert solvent such as chloroform, methylene chloride, etc. or using the excess reaction product as the reaction solvent, usually at room temperature or by heating. |
