PURPOSE:To permit a hot water type heater with a regenerative water bath to produce a heating effect after its start by connecting a radiator and the regenerative water bath in series or in parallel to the inlet and outlet of cooling water using the hot water through the regenerative water bath by means of a water channel on/off device. CONSTITUTION:Since the outcoming heat indicator 12 of a regenerative water bath 8 is higher than its incoming heat indicator 11 immediately after a hot water type heater starts, the output of a comparator 19 becomes L. A solenoid selection valve 10 is excited and solenoid valve 9 is not excited. The low temperature cooling water of a pump 3 enters the regenerative water bath 8 and pushes out high temperature water. This water is introduced into a radiator 4 and heating is done immediately after the heater starts. Besides, since the hot water returns to an engine 1 after heat is exchanged, the required heating time is reduced. Then when the incoming heat indicator 11 is higher than the outcoming heat indicator 12. The valve 9 is excited and the valve 10 is not excited in response to the output signal of the comporator 19. The hot water from the engine is supplied to the radiator 4 and the regenerative water bath 8 in parallel.
