The fastening system is particularly for buffers restricting the crab travel on cranes etc over tracks with sideways-protruding flanges. It slides on the flanges and can be clamped to them at any desired position. It comprises two holders (1), in each of which are two clamps (2) bearing against each other by mating ramp faces, and movable up and down. The two holders and their clamps are coupled together by one or more clamping screws (3). Each holder can have a U-shaped horizontal cross-section, with a horizontal slot (5) in its web (1a) extending roughly to the centre of each flange (1b).
