A warning system for an automatic gearbox comprises an alarm device and two or three control switches connected in series. One switch is closed when the speed range selector lever is not in the park position. The second switch is closed when a condition preceding the starting of the vehicle, such as, for example, opening of the door, is detected. The third, alternative switch is closed when an auxiliary brake is not correctly engaged. A warning signal is thereby produced when the driver prepares to leave the vehicle and the speed range selector switch is not in the park position. Redundant switches are indicated for the first and second switches. In addition a locking relay is proposed which maintains the warning signal by closing a switch bridging the second switch when the warning signal is generated until such time as the speed range selector lever of the automatic gearbox is shifted into the park position. |
