PURPOSE:To make releasing of a catalyst from dies for molding catalyst and improve productivity by compounding a small amt. of saccharides together with a thickener to the catalyst for oxidation of harmful gases consisting of a metallic oxide catalyst, heat-resistant aggregate, and calcium aluminate. CONSTITUTION:As a catalyst for purification of gases contg. harmful components such as CO and hydrocabons by oxidation, saccharides such as cane sugar, glucose and the like are mixed at 0.01-0.1wt% with 40-60wt% metallic oxide catalyst sucha as, for example, MnO2, 10-30wt% heat resistant aggregate such as SiO2, 20-40wt% calcium aluminate as a binder and 0.1-1.0wt% a cellulosic thickener. Water is added at 20-30pts.wt. to 100pts.wt. this mixture, and these are kneaded and are molded to a honeycomb shape having a large number of vent holes. This molding is set and dried in an atmosphere of 50-90 deg.C and >=80% relative humidity. Since the fluidity of the raw materials during molding with dies and the releasing of the molding from the dies are superior, productivity is improved. |
