Gasification of organic wastes - and use of energy of prod., gases for electricity generation and district heating

Carbonaceous waste is processed by gasification. Heat passes from the prod. gas to the water used in washing it, and thence (pref. after raising the temp. in a heat pump) to the working medium of a district heating system. The prod. gas is then burnt under pressure in a gas turbine, driving an electricity generator. The exhaust gas from the gas turbine is used to raise superheated steam to drive a steam turbine, and so to generate more electricity. Part of the heat of the prod. gas can be used to preheat the waste before this pressing. Tar and oil removed from the prod. gas can be recycled to the gasifier or added to the waste being prepd. for gasification. The energy available in the waste is used optimally and economically.
