<p>The universal joint with ball-bearings is adjustable to give zero clearance. It has an adjusting screw thread (5,5') in each arm of the spider (3), together with an oblique ball race (6,6'), and a cylindrical race (7,7') for overload. The forks (1) of the joint, and the spider, are so designed as to allow the dynamic centre of the joint to be set independently of the geometrical centre, and with no free movement. The design allows dynamic balancing without the use of complex and expensive machines for assembly.</p> |
