Marking system for plates on magnetic tape - using memory and detector, marking during brief movement of tape, esp. for detection

The marking system has a memory (10) and a detector. The detector detects the presence of markers on the tape and controls tape movement accordingly (either forwards or reverse). During the brief tape motion (forwards or reverse) occurring after a marker has been detected, the contents of the memory are recorded onto the tape. The opposite process occurs when reading the tape. The system is intended for dictation. The operator is equipped with a small keyboard (12) for operating (13) marking (14) and spacing (15).
