A tub (1) is equipped with a heating and circulating unit (2). The major part of the overall height of the tub (1) is filled with a peloid bathing liquid (I) covered by a liquid-tight film (4) provided with a fabric reinforcement. The area of the film (4) is considerably larger than the open horizontal area of the tub (1). The circumferential edge of the film is pulled up at least to the upper circumferential edge of the tub and is retained there. The remaining volume of the tub (1) delimited by the applied film (4) and the upper circumferential edge of the tub is filled, at least partially, with another peloid bathing liquid (II) into which a patient to be treated is placed. <IMAGE>
