A rope thimble is made by casting paramagnetic or stainless steel so that it is oviform in outline, and has a side surface which is flat at the pointed end region of the thimble. Preferably both sides of the thimble have a flat surface near the pointed end region. A narrow flat side surface extending round the rest of the thimble body may be coplanar with the flat side surface. The flat, side surface may be bounded by an edge that is tangential to the thimble eye. The thimble can be made by investment casting. |
