A frame or plate filter for the filtration of juices from sugar beet or sugar cane has a vertical cylindrical tank in which the pulp rises through two segments at diametrally opposite sides of the tank. The pulp enters the domes top of the tank through horizontal nozzles and descends down between parallel filter frames, suspended from parallel tubes which carry away the filtrate. This eliminates the build-up of clogging sludge deposits between the filter frames.
