The outlet (26) of the brew water supply pipe (14) which leads from the top down to the conical drip filter can be adjusted in height so that when making different amounts of coffee using different grain sizes the outlet can be set to the required height to produce the required blend. This is particularly advantageous when making more than 1 litre coffee with a fine grain. The outlet of the pipe is pref. 5mm above the surface of the filter when using 260cc ground coffee. The height displacement can be achieved in different ways e.g. by the vertical end section (26) which forms the outlet being displaceable on the rest of the pipe (18).
