The convertible ship has through holds for use as a roll-on ferry with stern access. Smoke vents (14) and other vertical structures are set to each side to leave a central gangway. The helicopter deck (8) forms part of a brick-shaped structure which is winched onto the rear deck directly from the quay using shipboard winches. The structure contains hanger space, workshops, fuel tanks etc. to form an independent helicopter facility for survey work or for search and rescue.
