High pressure pump for testing fuel injectors - comprising electromagnetically oscillating piston and non return valve in output line

The test equipment checks and calibrates fuel injectors without the need for dismantling part of the injector mechanism. A typical application is to diesel engine maintenance. An electromagnetically oscillated piston (5) is operated at mains frequency. This piston pump (3) provides fuel at high pressure through an outlet pipe (8) to the injector (1) on test. A non-return valve (9) on the pump delivery side is provided in the pump assembly (3). The complete unit (2) is equipped with a sump tank (6), pressure regulating valve (14,12) and return line from the injector being tested. The pump delivery can be regulated between maximum and nearly zero by an adjustable stop (18) for the oscillating armature (4) which drives the piston (5). The maximum pump pressure is of the order of 200 bars.
