Ultrasound applicator for time multiplexed scanning - has multiplexed latches controlled by octal d-system

This ultra-sound applicator is designed to provide time-multiplexed scanning in B-mode and, at least along one line, in TM mode. This is achieved by using an ultra-sound array where any group of transducers may be activated by means of a digital address word. An array (1) of 72 elements is arranged in 9 columns and 8 rows of transducer elements (e). They are controlled by octal D-latches (13-21) with clear inputs (CLR 1-9) and data inputs from an eight bit data bus (D1-D8). The clear data determine the window width whilst the d-data control the selected transducer elements.
