PURPOSE:To prevent the bending and cracking of a roll without water leakage by putting top caps on the spiral internal water grooves provided to a roll core material, and applying a padding layer on the surface of the roll core material. CONSTITUTION:Spiral internal water grooves 4 are worked on the surface of a roll core material 1, and spiral top caps 3 are applied in the opening parts thereof. The cap 3 and the material 1 are joined by welding 6 at the circumference. After the caps 3 are applied, these are build-up welded with the same component material as that of the material, to form a top padding layer 1' and further a heat cracking resistant material 2 is build-up welded thereon or a sleeve 2 is shrinkage-fitted thereto. Thereby, the spiral internal cooling effect is sufficiently provided without the possibility of water leakage and the bending and the bending and cracking of the roll are prevented. |
