There is described a process for the preparation of 5,11-dihydro-6H-pyrido[2,3-b][1,4]benzodiazepin-6-ones by reaction of a 2-halo- 3-aminopyridine with an anthranilic acid ester and subsequent ring closure of the 2-halo-3-(2-aminobenzoyl)aminopyridine obtained. These compounds are starting substances for the preparation of pharmacologically useful derivatives, for example of pirenzepine. |
