PURPOSE:To provide a mold material of improved strand surface characteristics and life of continuous casting installations by adding small amts. of Zr, Ti, Fe, etc. to a Cu-Cr alloy added with a specific amt. of Cr. CONSTITUTION:A molding material for continuous casting installations wherein in a Cu-Cr alloy the amt. of addition of Cr is set at 4-19% and further >=1 kinds among 0.04-0.20% Zr, 0.02-0.20% Ti and 0.03-1.0% Fe are added. By this material composition, the 2nd phase differing from copper alpha phase is deposited, the area rate of the alpha phase is decreased, crack scores are made small and surface characteristics are improved. The creep strain by the thermal stress generated during operation is reduced and the durability of the mold is improved. |
