The plant includes an evaporator and a condenser. The evaporator includes a box arrangement with floats in the liquid. Its top is covered with a material which is transparent to solar radiation. - There is an inner space in the box which contains a known quantity of liquid. A pipe opens into this space above the liquid level. It is joined to the condenser which is placed within the main body of liquid. It in turn is joined to a collector for the condensate.
