Peroxonium salts

The peroxonium salts, H3O2+Sb2F11-, H3O2+SbF6- and H3O2+AsF6-, are prepared by protonation of H2O2 in anhydrous HF solutions of the corresponding Lewis acids. The salts decompose producing the corresponding H3O+ salts and O2 in the temperature range of from 20 DEG to 50 DEG C. and thus are useful as oxidizers in situations where the production of oxygen in the 20 DEG -50 DEG C. temperature range is desirable. The salts also provide a convenient means for storing H2O2 in a solid form.
