PURPOSE:To prepare the titled substance useful as a synthetic intermediate of perfume, chemicals, etc., by the partial hydrogenative isomerization of 1-octa-2, 7-dienol in liquid phase in the presence of Pd and/or its compound and hydrogen. CONSTITUTION:The titled substance is prepared by the partial hydrogenative isomerization of 1-octa-2,7-dienol in the presence of Pd and/or its compound (e.g. Pd black, Pd powder, palladium bromide, or palladium oxide) and hydrogen. The reaction is carried out using the raw material as the solvent or in an inert organic solvent such as diethyl ether, dioxane, THF, etc., at 30-150 deg.C under a hydrogen pressure of 1-50atm. The concentration of Pd and/or its compound in the reaction mixture is pref. 0.005-5wt% as Pd metal. |
