PURPOSE:To improve temperature rise capacity and to prevent overheating by a structure wherein a heating element having a large surface area and a small section area is projected out of the sheath point of a preheating glow plug in a combustion chamber and connected to a heating element having a large positive resistance-temperature coefficient embedded in the sheath. CONSTITUTION:The 1st heating element 5 of iron chrome etc. is projected in the form of a large surface area and a small section area out of the point of a sheath 1 and connecting to this element, the 2nd heating element 6 of low carbon steel containing 0.2 or less % carbon or the like and having a large positive resistance-temperature coefficient is embedded in the sheath 1. In this constitution, a large electrical power is concentrated on the 1st heating element just after electricity is applied, the element is heated red quickly and temperature rise capacity is improved. As the temperature rises, the quantity of electricity to the 1st heating element 5 is controlled automatically by the self-control action of the 2nd heating element 6. Thus, temperature rise characteristics are improved and overheating can be prevented. |
