PURPOSE:To decide visually and easily whether the optical output exists or not, by coating an infrared-visible ray converting substance on a partial circumference of the fiber for optical transmission connected to a light emitting element or on the circumferential end face of the fiber for monitor. CONSTITUTION:Since an infrared-visible ray converting substance 16 is coated on the circumference of a fiber 14 for optical transmission near a cap 13, the light emitted from a photosemiconductor element 12 is propagated on the core of a core part 14 of the optical fiber 14, and a partial incident light is emitted through the clad of a clad part 14 to the outside of the fiber 14. The infrared- visible ray converting substance 16 coated in the place where this light is emitted is energized by the emission light to convert the emission light to a visible ray 17, and thus, it is detected whether infrared rays exist in the fiber 14 or not by this visible ray. |
