PURPOSE:To obtain a character pattern in a very short time, by a part of an upper rank digit of a character code register and the content of a direction designating register, and using a lower rank digit of the character code register, then accessing a memory. CONSTITUTION:A character code register 1 storing a character code and a direction designating register 2 designating the direction of outputted characters, are provided. A memory 6 to be accessed through the use of the upper and lower rank digits of the register 1 stores the pattern at the address location where the same characters but different direction are designated at the lower rank digit. The memory 6 is accessed by using the upper rank digit merging 3 a part of the upper rank digit of the register 1 and the content of the register 2, and the lower rank digit of the register 1 to output the character pattern. |
