Method for reading of radiation dosimeters 1 with a measurement probe carrying a quantity of a substance that is active during the reading, which when acted upon by ionising radiation assumes a metastable condition, which can be triggered by a physical factor, so that the substance gives off a quantity of energy which is proportional to the radiation dose received. An example thereof is substances which, after a radiation dose, give off a quantity of light when heated. During the reading process, which involves measurement of an unknown radiation dose, the measurement probe is exposed to said physical factor, such as heat, during its exposure to a measurement arrangement 31, which converts said quantity of energy, such as a quantity of light, into a measured value. During the measurement operation, the measuring probe is moved in continuous motion along a feed pathway 22, which extends into a measurement space 30. The measurement arrangement records a registration value for the energy received from the measurement arrangement along a predetermined measurement stretch, from which a registration value for the original unknown radiation dose is determined in that the measurement probe in a calibration process, after having given up its quantity of energy, is exposed to a known radiation dose and then to a new, equivalent measurement operation for recording of a calibration value related to the known radiation dose. The increased radiation dose is now determined from the relationship between this calibration value and the registration value from the measurement operation. <IMAGE> |
