PURPOSE:To eliminate the reading error even with use of a recording medium having a defect of almost the same size as the width of a track, by dividing a main magnetic pole of a magnetic recording/reproducing head. CONSTITUTION:A main magnetic pole 1 is divided into three pieces and arranged to tracks 5, 6 and 7 respectively with a space of 2/3 track width W which is not divided or a space of double width of the pole 1 respectively. An auxiliary magnetic pole 2 has a width triple as much as the track width W in case when a nondivided main magnetic pole is used and has a winding 4 in order to assuredly sense the magnetic flux which is attracted to the pole 1. In case when a defect 8 exists on the track 5, the amplitude of a reproduced output signal is substantially zero at the faulty area when the main magnetic pole exists over the entire width of the track 5. On the other hand, the amplitude of the said output signal is just 2/3 width of the track 5 when the main magnetic pole is divided into three pieces. |
