<p>PURPOSE:A substitutional solid solution crystalline oxide, containing V, P and O as principal components, obtained by replacing V partially with a specific element,having improved activity, and usable as a vapor phase oxidation catalyst for preparing maleic anhydride. CONSTITUTION:A pentavalent phosphorus compound, e.g. orthophosphoric acid, a V compound, e.g. V2O5, and halides, salts with organic acids or hydroxides of Mg, Mn, Co or Ni, chlorides or sulfates of Ti and halides of Fe, Cr or Al as raw materials are reacted with an aqueous solution of hydrazine as a reducing agent for V2O5 to prepare a crystalline oxide as a precursor for a catalyst for preparing maleic anhydride from a C4 hydrocarbon. Thus, the aimed substitutional solid solution crystalline oxide, containing V, P and O as principal components, V being partially substituted by one or more of Mg, Mn, Co, Ni and Ti or if necessary one of Cr, Fe and Al, and exhibiting almost the same X-ray diffraction pattern as the V-P crystalline oxide in the X-ray diffraction spectrum.</p> |
