The circuit extracts heat energy from an i.c. engine exhaust and has a reciprocating motor using a two-stroke cycle. This has a vent to heat feed injection water to the motor, by heating the water and injecting it into the motor chamber. A valve is connected to the injection pump piston which is axially hollow to allow vapourisation and injection of water, which also coats the valve. A port connects the upper part of the motor cylinder containing a heating coil for the water.
