PURPOSE:To increase production efficiency and to reduce cost by bonding a continuous mat-like sheet on one side of a plate, cutting them in the dimension of the plate width, and bonding a mat-like sheet which is wider two times or more the thickness of the plate than the width of the plate on the other side of the plate. CONSTITUTION:A paste-like active material comprising lead powder, sulfuric acid, and water is filled in a continuously casted grid. With continuously filling the paste in the grid, a continuous mat-like sheet 6 comprising fine glass fibers is bonded on one side of a plate 1. The continuous plate 1 bonded with glass mat is cut in the dimension of the plate width. A mat-like sheet 6 made of fine glass fibers which is wider two times or more the thickness of the plate than the width of the plate is bonded to the other side of the plate. Since the plate 1 is completely wrapped with glass mat sheets, no internal short circuit occurs on the side of the plate. By using this plate 1, a lead acid battery having high production efficiency and low cost can be obtained. |
