PURPOSE:To form thick ceramic coatings instantaneously at ordinary temp. by exploding plural materials for contg. electrically conductive metallic materials for forming ceramics by electric discharge, and allowing the produced molten particles to collide against the surface of the work thereby coating the surface. CONSTITUTION:Both ends of a melt spraying material 1 are clamped with electrodes 2, 3, and the electrode 2 is connected to the anode of a capacitor 5 via an electric discharge switch 4. The electrode 3 is connected to the cathode of the capacitor 5, and the capacitor 5 is charged with a charger 6 via a charging resistance 7. The work 9 is placed on a pedestal 8 below the material 1. Further, when the high voltage of the capacitor 5 is discharged by closing the switch 4, large impulsive current flows to the material 1 which in turn explodes by electric discharge. The molten particles of the material produced by this explosion collide against the surface of the work 9 and the ceramic coating sticks and forms on the surface. Thereby, the need for conventional pipings and seals is eliminated at all. |
