PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for metallic coatings on the surface of the outside circumference by incorporating metallic wires or pipes into a carbonaceous electrode bar prepd. by molding a mixture made by kneading a binder with a carbonaceous or graphite type material which is a main material and carbonizing or graphitizing the same under firing. CONSTITUTION:A carbonaceous or graphite type material is used as a main material and this is kneaded with a binder to make a mixture which is molded. The molding is carbonized or graphitized under firing, whereby a carbonaceous electrode bar is made. One - several through-holes are pierced at the axial center or around the same of this electrode, and metallic wires or metallic pipes are inserted into the through-holes. The length of the metallic wires or pipes is made roughly equal to the length of the electrode and the metallic wires or pipes are so inserted that their ends on one side project at either one end of the electrode bar. |
