<p>A cap for covering the projecting end of a nail or bolt contains an adhesive filler which acts as a seal. The seal is pref. reinforced with a rubber-elastic ring possessing a (central) opening for the nail or bolt end. A protective foil adhering to the peripheral flange of the cap may be applied as a pull-off foil to cover the adhesive filler. The cap may contain a separate, evacuated chamber designed to receive at least a portion of the adhesive filler displaced by the pin or bolt. Pref. adhesive filler is a polyurethane single-component paste. The cap is intended partic. for covering nails, pins and the like which are fired by a gun into panelling etc. in the construction of ships and automobiles.</p> |
