Four-wheel drive device for a vehicle

A four-wheel drive device with an automatic transmission of a vehicle contains an output shaft of the automatic transmission, a drive gear wheel being fixed on a front end section of the output shaft. A drive pinion shaft is connected to the drive gear wheel by an output gear wheel and a pinion formed on one end of the drive pinion shaft is connected by means of a front final reduction device to the drive of the front wheels of the vehicle. A rear drive shaft is pivotally mounted and extends rearwards along the outside of the automatic transmission. An output gear wheel is mounted so that it can rotate on the rear drive shaft and connected to the drive gear wheel by an intermediate gear wheel. A clutch is provided on the rear drive shaft for transmitting the rotation of the output gear wheel to the rear drive shaft for driving the rear wheels. <IMAGE>
