The brake lining or similar frictional body has slots in its frictional face. The slots (41) are produced electro-chemically or electro-erosively in the laminar lining's surface. The lining (40) is connected to a positive contact at one face and to a profiled plate (6) on the other face. The plate acts as a shaping cathode. The positive contact passes through an insulating block (9). The lining is centered about a pin (12). A circular channel (13) is located between the pin and the shaping cathode. The advantage lies in the simple way in which the slots are produced.
