The closed hopper for free-flowing material is mounted on an underframe allowing extraction of the contents from underneath, while it can be transported in the horizontal position and loaded and unloaded by a suitable vehicle. On each side of the hopper are two suspension points. The positions of the latter are defined by a triangle, whose height and base length are variable. The base of the triangle is on the lengthwise axis of the hopper, and is bisected by a perpendicular to this axis, through the centre of gravity. The apex of the triangle coincides with the attachment point of the hydraulically-operated lifting arm on the vehicle to the chains leading to the suspension points, which can be set at any position on the triangle sides or one extension of them, the rearmost of them in the horizontal position being however preferably above the lengthwise axis. This prevents the hopper tipping over on setting down from the vehicle in the upright position.
