PURPOSE:To allow a load to move smoothly at a low height empty portion in a linear motor by disposing voice coils provided at both side faces of a carriage for bearing a load at the same height as the center of gravity of the load and the assembly of the carriage. CONSTITUTION:A load 6 such as an optical head or the like is supported by a carriage 5. Voice coils 8 are mounted at both side faces of the carriage 5. When the coils 8 are energized, force is operated at the coils 8 in a direction of a rail 10, and a movable section 9 moves along the rail 10. In this case the center of, the voice coils 8 are designed to be in the same height as the center of gravity of the movable section 9. Accordingly, the center line of the force operating on the two voice coil 8 is disposed in the vicinity of the center A of gravity of the movable section 9. Thus, the voice coils are smoothly movable without vibration. |
