PURPOSE:To exchange cannon guides safely in a short time by mounting and dismounting the cannon guides to and from a mill housing by means of the insertion and pulling off of pusher rods which are connectable and disconnectable to and from the cannon guides. CONSTITUTION:To exchange a cannon guide 3, a billet side face guide 21 is detached, top covers 25, 26 are opened, a billet support 18 is lowered and a pusher rod 31 is forced in by a prescribed rate. A retainer fitting 8 is released from a vane pair 4 with a cylinder pair 9, and a hook 11 is turned and is engaged in the leading end groove of the rod 31. Thereupon, when the rod 31 is pulled off, the guide 3 is pulled and the vane pair 4 disengages from the groove pair 6 of a mill housing 1, and is moved backward, after which it is removed from the pipe making line. Next, the rod 31 mounted with the new guide 3 is pushed up to the housing 1 to fit the vane pair 4 into the groove pair 6, and a fitting pair 8 is rotated by the cylinder pair 9, by which the vane pair 4 is pressed to the inside wall surface of the groove pair 6. Then, the hook 11 turns and disengages from the groove of the rod 31 and this completes mounting of the guide 3, then the rod 31 is pulled off. |
