N-BENZOYL -N'-PHENYLUREA COMPOUND, ITS PREPARATION AND INSECTICIDE CONTAINING THE SAME

NEW MATERIAL:An N-benzoyl-N'-phenylurea compound of formulaI(Hal is halogen; X and Y are H or halogen) and a salt thereof. EXAMPLE:N-(2-Chlorobenzoyl)-N'-[3-carboxy-4-(5-trifluoromethyl-2- pyridyloxy) phenyl]urea. USE:An insecticide, having food poisoning insecticidal activity against injurious insects, e.g. Plutella xylostella (diamondback moth), Leptinotarsa decemlineata or houseflies, and capable of controlling insects by the direct application to the foliar parts of crops and controlling insects living in excrements by incorporating in feed for domestic animals. PROCESS:A urea compound of formula II ( R is alkyl) is hydrolyzed in the presence of a basic substance, e.g. sodium hydroxide, or an acid, e.g. hydrochloric acid, and if necessary in a solvent, e.g. dioxane, at 0-150 deg.C, and if necessary the hydrolytic product is then brought into contact with an alkaline substance to give the compound of formulaI.
