The invention relates to a method for the production of a Koepe sheave, belt pulley or the like, in which the sheave or pulley is cast in one piece and slots (7) are provided in the casting, the said slots extending between the shaft hole and the flange (1) of the sheave or pulley and lying on or next to the parting plane (8) through the centre line (diametral line), the slots (7) being designed in such a way that wedges can be driven into them after casting to break the sheave or pulley into two parts, which are, in turn, clamped together by means of bolts or the like before further processing of the casting. The invention also relates to a Koepe sheave, belt pulley or the like produced by this method. <IMAGE>
