The rear lighting system has extra lights mounted inside the passenger space immediately behind the rear window. The extra lights have internal reflectors with polarisation filters whose directions of polarisation are orthogonal so that back-scattered or back reflected light cancels before it reaches the driver's eyes. The filters are made of appropriate glass, gratings, plastic or plastic foil and form the covers for the extra lights. The advantage lies in the increased safety brough about by eliminating internal reflections.
