The invention relates to a running-height adjusting device for a printer tape in a line printer. This device has a prism (7) with a running-height adjusting line (8) on its lens face, the latter being arranged parallel to a printer tape (1) which runs through or circulates and is adjustable vertically relative to the lens face of the prism (7). Provided on the ocular face of the prism (7), located at a right angle to the lens face, are adjusting lines (9) which rule out parallax displacement. The edge of the printer tape (1) is situated in the intended position if, when viewed through the spaced-apart parallel adjusting lines (9), it is situated on the ocular face with the adjusting line (8) aligned on the lens face. <IMAGE>
