A cosmetic case has two hollow spaces which are constructed either in a container element or in a lid element, each hollow space running into the corresponding element from each side part of the element in such a direction that the hollow spaces face one another. A slide element is inserted with the inner part towards the front into each hollow space so as to be displaceable in a sliding manner, the outer end part of which slide element is enlarged and remains outside the hollow space so that, when the cosmetic case is closed, it is located near to the side part either of the lid element or of the container element which is not constructed with a hollow space. The outer end part of the slide element is likewise arranged such that it partially opens the lid element with a force located vertically on each side part of the lid element, the snap-in engagement between the closure elements, which are provided both on the container element and on the lid element, being released when the slide element is pressed inwards. <IMAGE>
